BUS JOURNEY SOUTH

After spending another night in Sydney I decided it was time to explore more of Australia. I booked a ticket on a bus from Sydney to Melbourne for 65 Dollars. It goes along the coast road and I could get off and on as many times as I wanted. This seemed a great deal, as it is almost twenty four hours on the bus in one go and I did not fancy that.
The first day I spent eight hours on the bus and the scenery was fantastic. I booked into a YHA in Batesman Bay. It is a caravan site with a swimming pool. And a wooded building with the YHA dorms in it. When I first arrived I was not that impressed. But I had four wonderful nights there. The people who run it are so friendly.
The first day I teamed up with a German girl called Hannah for a day and we walked for two and a half hours in the blazing sunshine to Denham beach. It was virtually deserted so we had a fantastic time chilling out.But we got the bus back !!!

Some people have cars that they buy at the beginning of their trip and sell when they have finished travelling round Australia. One girl called Chantelle offered a few of us a lift to explore Pebbley beach about 40 minutes from Batesman Bay

There were Kangaroos just running around wild among the trees at the edge of the beach. I was too afraid to go upto them, but some of the people did.Maybe next time.

The next day a few more people decided to head for Surf beach so I joined them. Again it was a very long walk in the blazing sunshine but we eventually got as far as Denham beach and decided to chill there.

And this time we got a taxi back!! to the YHA where we had a great BBQ together. It was my first Australian BBQ!!

I know the picture is a bit blurry, I have not got to grips with the night setting. But you get the idea.
The wooden building at the site where most of the YHA travellers stay was all lit up.

so it created a very festive atmosphere and we had a lovely time.
